The Scot, who can play in midfield or in a more attacking role, has left her mark on the history of the Spanish club. After playing for various English clubs and spending three seasons with Real Madrid, Caroline Weir has decided to join OL Lyonnes until 2029.

Under her captaincy, the Scottish women’s team finished top of their qualifying group for the 2027 World Cup and secured promotion to League A of the Nations League. The new Lyon signing has a clear ambition: to lead her nation to the 2027 World Cup. To do so, she will need to navigate two two-legged play-off rounds in late 2026.
