“I’m feeling a lot of emotions. I’m thinking back on so many memories, matches, and goals. A lot of things are coming back to me, but I don’t want to dwell on them right now. I wanted to announce it before the end of the season because it was important to me, but I’m staying focused on tomorrow’s match. I’ll take stock at the end of the season and savor it then. The watchword is focus, and for the whole team too, we only want to think about this.
There’s no bitterness; I’m someone who gave everything for the club. So I’m leaving with that sense of satisfaction. I received so many messages. I can’t single one out because I have so many in my head.
I still want to play, so I’m going to keep playing. Playing for the French national team is also a goal for me. I haven’t made a decision about my future yet, but I will definitely go and play abroad.”
“It’s very hard because Eugénie and I have been through so much together and won so many titles. We’ve shared so many emotions. Winning matches, losing them, getting back up, questioning ourselves. We arrived very young and today we are mature women. She’s a small woman with so many values, so much respect. We have so much in common. She knows how much I appreciate her, that I even love her. It’s going to be hard for me personally, but also for the whole team.
She lives and breathes football. Eugénie Le Sommer is part of the very definition of football. The sense of teamwork, the positioning, the ball control, the first touch, the intelligence. When we talk about football, for me, she ticks all the boxes because football isn’t just about physical abilities. There’s the ball, there’s tactics, the ability to put your direct opponent in difficulty. She’s someone I found on the pitch to be the eyes closed.“
