“Jonatan’s commitment to excellence and performance is unparalleled. His leadership, tactical acumen, and dedication to player development will propel our club to new heights, both nationally and internationally,” said Michele Kang, majority owner of OL Lyonnes. “We are grateful for his decision to remain part of the Kynisca family. He will play a crucial role in taking OL Lyonnes to new heights for both the players and the fans.”
Jonatan Giráldez has established himself as one of the most promising coaches of his generation. An excellent tactician, Giráldez was named the IFFHS World’s Best Club Coach in 2023. The Spaniard was also a finalist for the prestigious UEFA Women’s Coach of the Year and FIFA Women’s Coach of the Year awards in 2023 and 2024. At just 33 years old, he became the youngest nominee for the 2024 Ballon d’Or Women’s Coach of the Year award, a first for him.
“I am honored and excited to join OL Lyonnes,” said Giráldez. “The club’s history, ambition, and talented squad represent a fantastic opportunity, and I look forward to building on the club’s successes as it enters a new chapter.”
This appointment confirms OL Lyonnes’ strategic commitment to strengthening its international profile and increasing its competitiveness. With his experience in Europe and the United States, Jonatan Giráldez is positioned as an ideal candidate to guide the club towards achieving its objectives.
