The Lyonnes couldn’t have started more efficiently: Vicki Becho finished off Jule Brand’s perfectly delivered cross inside the box to open the scoring almost immediately (1-0, 4′). The German international looked dangerous right from the start, coming close again moments later with a powerful effort that crashed against the Marseille goalkeeper Marie-Morgane Sieber’s crossbar.
Despite being under pressure, Marseille didn’t give up and grew into the game after the first quarter of an hour. However, after a strong driving run, Jule Brand once again created danger, setting up Inès Benyahia, who struck a precise shot in off the post (2-0, 27′).
Two minutes later, the spark came down the left side, with Sofie Svava providing the assist and Ada Hegerberg finishing with a low left-footed strike. Lyon extended their lead before halftime (3-0, 29′).
Lyon’s dominance continued into the second half, with the young goalkeeper Féérine Belhadj only having to deal with a simple catch in her area. In the 67th minute, Maudeline Moryl tried her luck following a Marseille free-kick, but her effort failed to hit the target.
The Lyonnes kept pushing forward, especially down the right flank. After several unsuccessful attempts, it was from a corner that Inès Benyahia struck again, delivering a superb cross that found Marie-Antoinette Katoto (4-0, 81′), who finished first time just minutes after coming off the bench.
In the 89th minute, Kadidiatou Diani took advantage of a loose clearance from the Marseille goalkeeper, but her shot was cleared off the line by the Marseille defence right in front of goal.
The match ended 4-0 for the Lyonnes, a convincing performance in front of their home crowd at the GOLTC.
