Summary
Right from kickoff, the Lyonnes imposed their rhythm and were quickly rewarded. In the 9th minute, following a superb cross from Lorna Chicha Douvier, Korbin Shrader met the ball perfectly to give Lyon the lead (9’, 1-0).
Just four minutes later, the Lyonnes doubled their advantage. Perfectly set up by Vicki Becho, Romane Rafalski finished with composure to score her first professional goal (13’, 2-0).
Completely in control, the Lyonnes continued to push forward, with Romane Rafalski once again standing out in the 31st minute thanks to a magnificent overhead kick that narrowly sailed over the bar.
It was an excellent first half overall, allowing our players to head into the dressing room with a fully deserved lead.
After the break, the team quickly regained control of the game. In the 47th minute, Sofie Svava tried her luck from distance with a superb strike from outside the box that narrowly missed the target. Shortly afterwards, Vicki Becho delivered another excellent cross for Marie-Antoinette Katoto, whose header failed to find the back of the net.
Around the hour mark, the coaching staff made several adjustments with a quadruple substitution as Ashley Lawrence, Lily Yohannes, Jule Brand and Heaps entered the pitch, bringing fresh energy to the side. Despite Lyon’s dominance, Montpellier managed to reduce the deficit in the 75th minute through their number 17 (75’, 2-1).
Late in the match, Lou Marchal made her professional debut after replacing Féerine Belhadj.
In stoppage time, the Lyonnes definitively sealed the victory. Perfectly played through by Lily Yohannes, Ashley Lawrence rounded the goalkeeper before calmly finishing to score Lyon’s third goal (90+2’, 3-1).
It was a largely controlled second half, finished off with efficiency, allowing our ‘Rouge et Bleu’ to secure an authoritative victory in this final regular-season match.
