OL Lyonnes are French champions for the 19th time!

OL Lyonnes delivered a superb first half in this playoff final against Paris FC. From the outset, Lyon imposed their rhythm and put the Parisian defense under pressure with their high-intensity attack.

Lyon’s first real chance came quickly. In the 11th minute, Tabitha Chawinga produced a magnificent individual piece of skill. After several skillful moves to beat the opposing defense, the striker finished her run with a precise shot into the bottom right corner to open the scoring (1-0).

Buoyed by this opening goal, OL Lyonnes continued to press forward and created several dangerous situations in the following minutes. This dominance was quickly rewarded when, in the 17th minute, Lindsey Heaps delivered an excellent cross, perfectly met by Tabitha Chawinga to give OL Lyonnes a two-goal lead (2-0).

A few minutes later, Melchie Dumornay once again showcased her exceptional ball skills. After a magnificent run through the Parisian defense, the Lyon midfielder perfectly set up Vicki Becho on the opposite flank. Unfortunately, the Lyon winger’s shot went wide of the goal.

A standout performer in the first half, Melchie Dumornay was finally rewarded for her efforts in the 22nd minute. After another impressive run, she finished the move with a superb strike into the top corner, giving Lyon a commanding 3-0 lead (22′).

Completely dominating the first half, Lyon went into the break with a three-goal advantage after a highly accomplished first forty-five minutes.

Upon returning from the locker room, the OL Lyonnes players displayed the same intentions and intensity as in the first half. Still dominant, they continued to put pressure on a Paris FC team struggling against Lyon’s cohesive unit.

This strong start to the second half was quickly rewarded. In the 52nd minute, Vicki Becho produced a superb piece of skill with a perfectly executed roulette before setting up Melchie Dumornay. Well-positioned, the Haitian international gave the opposing goalkeeper no chance and scored Lyon’s fourth goal (52′, 4-0).

Despite their comfortable lead, Lyon continued their attacking efforts. In the 65th minute, Lindsey Heaps once again distinguished herself with a high-quality ball recovery before launching Melchie Dumornay into space, confirming her influence in this final.

The match was also marked by an emotionally charged moment in the 74th minute. Lindsey Heaps left the pitch to a standing ovation from the Groupama Stadium crowd. After four and a half seasons with Lyon, the American midfielder was playing her final match for OL Lyonnes.

In the dying moments of the game, Lyon capped off their attacking display. In the 90th minute, perfectly set up by Jule Brand, Melchie Dumornay completed her hat trick, volleying home a magnificent goal to score the fifth of the evening (90’, 5-0).

At the final whistle, the Lyonnes players erupted in jubilation. After a match they controlled from start to finish, they were crowned French champions and concluded their season in the most spectacular fashion with a treble in the LFFP Cup, the French Cup, and finally, tonight, the league title.
