This Saturday, Groupama Stadium hosted a prestigious match between two French powerhouses, both determined to make their mark in the race for first place in the league. The first half was fast-paced and intense, with both teams displaying their ambitions but neither able to break the deadlock. Lyon, well-organized, generally dominated possession, looking to impose their game in the Parisian half. The first real chance came in the 15th minute when Korbin Schrader unleashed a powerful shot towards the top corner, but the Parisian goalkeeper made a crucial save to keep the score level. At halftime, the score remained 0-0, reflecting a balanced first half, though one slightly dominated by a more enterprising Lyon side.
After the break, Jonatan Giráldez’s players returned with the same intensity. In the 50th minute, Wendie Renard delivered a superb through ball to Ada Hegerberg, who controlled it before unleashing a subtle toe-poke. Once again, Mylène Chavas intervened to save her team. Around the hour mark, the Lyon coach made a series of attacking substitutions: Tarciane, Jule Brand, Tabitha Chawinga, Elma Nelhage, and Vicki Becho came on to inject some fresh energy. A wise choice, as in the 75th minute, during a scramble in midfield, Tabitha Chawinga collected the ball, broke free, and calmly slotted it past the Paris FC goalkeeper. The Malawian international used her power and speed to open the scoring (75′, 1-0).
Solid to the end, the Lionesses maintained their advantage and recorded a clean sheet, driven by the defensive rigor of the group and the serenity of Teagan Micah in goal.
