Summary
From the outset, Lyon imposed their rhythm. In the 10th minute, a first clear-cut chance rewarded this dynamic start: from a precise cross by Lily Yohannes, Marie-Antoinette Katoto unleashed a powerful shot, but the Lens goalkeeper was alert and pushed it behind for a corner. A few minutes later, the American was dangerous again. In the 19th minute, Lily Yohannes tried her luck from the edge of the box, but her shot went just over the bar.
Lyon’s dominance logically paid off. In the 27th minute, perfectly set up in the center by Jule Brand, Lily Yohannes followed up with a superb strike to open the scoring. A deserved goal, which allowed Lyon to go into halftime with the lead.
In the second half, Lyon managed their lead while maintaining control of the game. In the 75th minute, the coaching staff made a double substitution to inject some fresh energy, bringing on Inès Benyahia and Tabitha Chawinga, followed by Kadidiatou Diani in place of Jule Brand. In the 84th minute, Ingrid Engen also entered the game, replacing Elma Nelhage. Late in the match, another double substitution occurred in the 89th minute, notably with Romane Rafalski making her second professional appearance, replacing Sofie Svava, and Vicki Becho replacing Lindsey Heaps.
Solid until the final whistle, Lyon held onto their lead and secured a 1-0 victory against RC Lens.
