In a particularly hard-fought first half, the two teams cancelled each other out and engaged in a real battle in midfield. Chances were few and far between, but Lyon managed to create some dangerous opportunities.
In the 30th minute, Tabitha Chawinga initiated a move down the left flank, perfectly setting up Melchie Dumornay, whose cutback found Lindsey Heaps in the center. The American then found herself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but was denied by the alert Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper. Despite this clear chance, the score remained 0-0 at halftime. Lyon knew they would have to redouble their efforts after the break to make the difference and secure the victory.
After the break, OL Lyon upped the tempo and created numerous dangerous situations. In the 60th minute, Kadidiatou Diani broke down the wing before sending in a cross, but the ball sailed just over Jule Brand, who was well-positioned in the box. Immediately afterward, Jonatan Giráldez made a double substitution, bringing on Lily Yohannes and Jule Brand for Lindsey Heaps and Ada Hegerberg.
Lyon continued their attacking pressure. In the 73rd minute, another cross from Kadidiatou Diani found Jule Brand, whose header allowed Tabitha Chawinga to unleash a powerful shot, which was ultimately headed away by the Paris FC defense. Three minutes later, Kadidiatou Diani again found Tabitha Chawinga with a through ball, but the latter’s shot was saved by the alert Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper.
In the 82nd minute, Lily Yohannes beat the opposing defense before crossing for Marie–Antoinette Katoto, whose header ultimately went over the bar. In stoppage time, the Lyon striker again came close to opening the scoring, but her magnificent header was once more saved by a decisive Chavas. PSG pressed hard at the end of the match in search of a winner, but to no avail.
OL Lyonnes failed to break down the Parisian defense and had to settle for a draw after an intense and hard-fought match. This game will be a memorable one for Selma Bacha, who, at just 25 years old, played her 200th match for the club. Now, the focus shifts to the Coupe de France, with a crucial Round of 16 tie against Olympique de Marseille.
