Summary
Lyonnesses dominated the opening minutes of the match and opened the scoring right from the start. Salma Paralluelo broke down the wing following a fine through ball and sent in a cross towards Melchie Dumornay, who was beaten to the ball by the opposing defender, who then sent the ball into her own net (0–1, 8’). Lyon controlled the early stages of the match and moved the ball around well. A fine team move was rounded off by another cross from Salma Paralluelo; Damaris Egurrola was on hand to meet the ball and struck a powerful half-volley that crashed against the post. A few minutes later, Melchie Dumornay wins the ball back following a fine tackle and plays it to Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who curls it beautifully into the far corner (0–2, 28’). Shortly before half-time, Marie-Antoinette Katoto shakes off her marker and scores her second goal following a fine pass from Ada Hegerberg (0–3, 40’) . A free-kick for Servette was well cleared by the Lyon defence, but Melchie Dumornay was on hand to pounce on the loose ball and burst forward. She found herself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper and chipped the ball perfectly over her (0–4, 45+1’). The first half ended on this note of great class.
You couldn’t afford to be late for the second half, as Marie-Antoinette Katoto scored the goal of the match following a magnificent backheel from Lily Yohannes (0–5, 47’). Shortly before the hour mark, Lyonnes extended their lead further through Melchie Dumornay, who finished off a fine pass from Marie-Antoinette Katoto to score her second of the match (0–6, 54’). Jonatan Giráldez made some substitutions, bringing on Caroline Weir and Tabitha Chawinga for their first minutes of the season. A corner taken by Selma Bacha to the near post found Tarciane, who flicked it on with a backheel; the ball was then deflected into the net by a Servette player (0–7, 68’). A few minutes later, it was Liana Joseph’s turn to make her return to the pitch following her horrific injury in October 2025 against Arsenal. Towards the end of the match, Inès Benyahia joined in the fun and scored the final goal of the game following a fine pass from Caroline Weir (0–8, 89’). Lyonnesses secured victory at the end of a match they controlled perfectly, scoring numerous goals.
