Selma Bacha’s Contract Extension
“This is an important moment: we announced Selma’s contract extension. I’ve seen Selma grow as a player and as a woman. She means a lot to us; she’s the future, and it was important that she stay. She’s always had so much energy, both on and off the field. We’re counting on her for years to come. We wanted to show her, beyond just signing a contract, how important she is to us. Now it’s up to her to live up to that status.”
New Stadium
“Discussions are ongoing, and we are considering different options. I have mentioned the possibility of having a stadium better suited to this team. The current training center is not satisfactory: we believe the team deserves better. Each option has advantages and disadvantages, and we don’t want to make the wrong choice. Our landlord is committed to a medium- and long-term project. Furthermore, discussions are underway regarding the training center. Several serious leads are being explored, but it is crucial to make the right decision. Land in Lyon is not easy: it is a large city with a high population density. These are weighty decisions, and we want to take the necessary time to ensure we make the right choice. However, we want to quickly put an end to playing in an unsuitable stadium. We have a specific fan base, and it is essential to create an experience that meets their expectations. This criterion will be decisive.”
Mid-Season Review
“The mid-season review is positive, but we know that our objectives will be measured at the end of the season. Our priority was to improve the quality of the team’s play. This was a stated and fundamental objective for us. Even though, with a new coach, an adjustment period is necessary, what we are seeing on the pitch is satisfying. We would like to see more goals considering the number of chances created, but the important thing is to generate those chances. We are also seeing great chemistry between the players. At the halfway point, we are fully satisfied, but the true assessment will be made at the end, as our ambitions remain very high.”
Adapting to Change
“Regarding the coach and staff, there have been many changes during the off-season. Having a foreign coach means a new language in the training center, which isn’t easy for everyone. I was impressed by how quickly the staff adapted.” This is one of the keys to success. However, this is only an interim assessment. At OL, we know that everything comes down to the end of the season. In the quarterfinals, we will likely face a top-level opponent. In Arkema Première Ligue, the new format was designed to create more uncertainty. We are rising to these challenges, and we will take stock at the end.”
