Biography

After shining with Montpellier, French international Sonia Bompastor joined Olympique Lyonnais (OL) in 2006. She led the club to its first Women’s Champions League title in 2011 (and won it again the following season). After retiring from her professional playing career, Bompastor took charge of Lyon’s youth academy and then, in 2021, the first team. Named best coach of the year in 2022 and 2023 in the French league, she became the first woman to win the Women’s Champions League as a coach in 2022, having already won it as a player in 2022.
