Another Ballon d’Or nomination for Wendie Renard: the iconic captain of OL Lyonnes is among the 30 nominees for the prestigious award, for the sixth time in her career.
6th
Since the creation of the Women’s Ballon d’Or in 2018 (won by Ada Hegerberg), the Lyon captain has been named among the nominees for the prestigious Ballon d’Or six times (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2026). Wendie Renard therefore holds the record for the most nominations.
2 TEAMS OF THE YEAR
The iconic captain, who has made over 500 appearances for OL Lyonnes, has once again been named in the Team of the Season for the 2025–2026 campaign in both the UWCL Women’s Champions League and the Arkema Première League. She played in more than half of the French league fixtures, leading OL Lyonnes to the final of the top-flight competition whilst featuring in every match. A symbol of leadership and the linchpin of a team that achieved the domestic treble by winning the Arkema Première Ligue, the French Cup and the first-ever LFFP Cup.
10 GOALS
Wendie Renard scored 10 goals during the 2025/2026 season, in 28 matches played. Over the course of her career, the iconic captain has played 531 matches for OL Lyonnes, scoring a total of 169 goals.
