Dijon quickly put the Lyon defence and goalkeeper Féerine Belhadj under pressure. The young Lyon shot-stopper was called into action within the opening fifteen minutes, notably dealing with efforts from Chengshu Wu.
It was ultimately Ada Hegerberg who took advantage of a loose clearance, stealing the ball at the feet of the Dijon defence. Lurking inside the box, the Norwegian striker then calmly beat goalkeeper Katriina Talaslahti to score her second Coupe LFFP goal of the season (0-1, 17′).
At the back, Lyon remained solid, with Ingrid Engen leading the defence despite the early withdrawal of Alice Sombath. Going forward, however, Lyon continued to pile on the pressure. Melchie Dumornay burst forward with a dazzling run, drawing the attention of the entire Dijon backline. Corventina skipped past several defenders before unleashing a shot. The DFCO goalkeeper could only parry the ball into the path of Ada Hegerberg. The Lyon striker reacted first and bundled the ball into the net.
Right from the start of the second half, Melchie Dumornay forced the defence into a late challenge, earning Lyon a penalty. But Katriina Talaslahti came to Dijon’s rescue with an excellent save, denying Ada Hegerberg her hat-trick.
Lyon kept up the pressure after the break, showing far greater control and dominance in possession than they had in the first half.
Their attacking efforts were eventually rewarded from a corner, and what a corner it was! Selma Bacha scored directly from a stunning delivery to net her first goal of the season (0-3, 64′)!
Lyon continued to threaten relentlessly, with Lindsey Heaps rattling the crossbar (67′), Melchie Dumornay seeing a strike deflected wide (69′), and another Lindsey Heaps effort ruled out for offside after the ball had found the back of the net (73′).
Dijon also looked for a way back into the match, with Dominika Kopinska getting a sight of goal, but she failed to hit the target against Féerine Belhadj (73′).
Ten minutes later, Jule Brand found Selma Bacha, whose cross found fellow France international Marie-Antoinette Katoto. The striker produced a brilliant backheel finish to put the icing on the cake and wrap up the contest in style (0-4, 88′).
