Trained in Chile, Christiane Endler played in the United States (South Florida Bulls), England (Chelsea), and Spain (Valencia) before joining France (PSG) in 2017. The 29-year-old Chilean international, who won the 2021 D1 Arkema championship with Paris Saint Germain, distinguished herself this season by conceding only four goals in 22 league games, earning her the title of best goalkeeper in D1 Arkema 2021 and a place in the 2020/2021 season’s dream team at the UNFP awards. 2021 season at the UNFP awards. Born in Randers, Denmark, Signe Bruun played for Fortuna Hjørring (2014–2018), where she won the Danish championship twice in 2016 and 2018 and the Danish Cup in 2016. The striker then moved to France and Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, with whom she won the D1 Arkema championship this season. The Danish international has played 23 matches and scored eight goals in all competitions this season.
Dutch player Daniëlle van de Donk, who played for Willem II, VVV Venlo, PSV Eindhoven, and Gothenburg, joins Olympique Lyonnais after six seasons (2015–2021), 98 matches, and 30 goals with Arsenal. With the English club, the midfielder won the FA Cup in 2016, the League Cup in 2018, and the English championship in 2019. A Dutch international, Daniëlle van de Donk has 112 caps and 27 goals for the Netherlands. European champion in 2017 and runner-up in the 2019 World Cup, she played in the semi-finals and final at Groupama Stadium. Aged 29, Daniëlle van de Donk will also be competing in the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games this summer.
In other news, Olympique Lyonnais has announced that it has reached an agreement in principle, subject to final administrative formalities, with left-back Perle Morroni. The French international is expected to join OL for three seasons, until June 30, 2024. The 23-year-old won the U19 European Championship with France in 2016 and was crowned French champion 2020/2021 last month with PSG.
With these four new players joining Sonia Bompastor’s squad, Olympique Lyonnais is keen to reaffirm its high ambitions on the French and international stage and is doing everything it can to continue writing the history of its women’s team.
