OL Lyonnes has announced the extension of central defender Wassa Sangare’s contract for two additional seasons, through June 30, 2029.
After a season with the London City Lionesses, Wassa Sangare is back at the club where she began her career to continue her development alongside her teammates in Lyon. In England, the center back quickly adapted to the style of English soccer and proved herself on the field, playing a total of 22 matches for London City.
Over the past few months, Wassa has gained maturity on the field, further strengthening her many defensive qualities—particularly her ability to win one-on-one duels. Her overall performance was rewarded with her first call-up to the French national team in December 2025.
Following her first contract extension in January 2025, Wassa Sangare has once again reaffirmed her commitment to the Lyon women’s team. The club is delighted to be able to count on the talents of its 20-year-old player to achieve the goals set for this season and in the years to come. Wassa is one of 11 players from the academy currently on the Lyon roster this season.
