Summary

OL Lyonnes imposed their tempo right from the start, dominating possession. They strung together impressive passages of play, displaying great patience, movement, and communication. Lyon applied suffocating pressure, launching repeated attacks—including efforts from Korbin Shrader and Jule Brand, as well as a shot from Caroline Weir in the 25th minute—but Aston Villa remained defensively solid. Yet, against the run of play, it was the English side that found the net first. They capitalized on their very first chance, scoring via a header at the far post from French player Océane Deslandes (0-1, 39′).

After an early chance for Marie-Antoinette Katoto (48′), Jule Brand delivered a superb cross to set up Damaris Egurrola, who equalized with a magnificent header (1-1, 50′)! As heavy rain began to fall, ths Lyonnes kept pushing, creating great chances for Salma Paralluelo and Caroline Weir. Ultimately, it was from another corner kick that the Lyonnes found the net again. Caroline Weir delivered a perfect ball onto Marie-Antoinette Katoto‘s head, putting the team in front (1-2, 76′)! The French international sealed the victory a few minutes later by scoring a third goal for the team. Caroline Weir struck a fine free-kick; the goalkeeper spilled the ball, and the Lyon forward pounced on the rebound (3-1, 83’).
