In their season opener, OL Lyonnes left no room for doubt with a resounding 1-7 victory on the road against FC Fleury 91 on the first matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue.

Summary
Tarciane quickly opened the scoring with a header across the goal at the near post off a corner kick by Jule Brand (0-1, 3′). FC Fleury 91 equalized with a header by Shana Chossenotte (1-1, 8′). Following a fine pass from Damaris Egurrola, Melchie Dumornay found the far corner to put OL Lyonnes back in front (1-2, 11′). After a strong spell of possession, Vicki Becho broke down the wing and sent a cross to the near post that was deflected by Léna Goetsch into her own net (1-3, 28′). Just three minutes later, Vicki Becho broke free again and extended the lead with a crisp shot (1-4, 31′). Dominating the match, the Lyonnes kept pressing, and Melchie Dumornay, off a header from Jule Brand, volleyed the ball just under the crossbar (1-5, 41′). As halftime approached, Jule Brand received the ball at her feet and beat a defender in the opponent’s penalty area before laying it back toward Melchie Dumornay. The Lyon player struck it first-time and sent the ball into the back of the net, completing her hat trick (1-6, 45+2′).
After returning from halftime, Fleury made substitutions in an attempt to turn the tide, but the Lyon players controlled the pace and flow of the game. At the one-hour mark, Jonatan Giráldez made all five of his allowed substitutions at once: Selma Bacha, Ingrid Engen, Julie Swierot, Korbin Shrader, and Ada Hegerberg entered the game, allowing him to rotate the roster ahead of upcoming matches. It was ultimately Julie Swierot who stood out ten minutes after coming on. Following a determined, high-pressure tackle, she struck the ball with her left foot from outside the box, and the deflected shot beat the opposing goalkeeper (1–7, 71′). Lyon controlled the remainder of the match. A final attack came close to finding the back of the net: Selma Bacha’s cutback cross found Marie-Antoinette Katoto, who narrowly missed the target. OL Lyonnes secured a convincing victory on the road against FC Fleury 91, getting their 2026–27 season off to a perfect start.

“It wasn’t perfect tonight because we conceded a goal, but overall I’m very satisfied. The team played with a lot of intensity and showed the determination to attack throughout the game. Tonight’s performance was excellent. The attacking approach we’ve been working on over the past few weeks paid off. I know that with the quality of this team, we can control possession and create plenty of chances, just like we did tonight. Paris FC will be a tough match next week. We didn’t win our first game against them last season, but the team is ready.”

“I’m happy with what the team did. I think we were very effective, especially in the first half. We have a new formation; we’re still learning, but we caused the opposing team quite a few problems. In the second half, they tried to adjust by playing with five defenders, but we dominated the game by keeping possession. The most important thing is that we scored a lot of goals—that gives us confidence. This is my seventh season here; I know I’m surrounded by the best, so I can only keep improving, especially with the support of the coaching staff and my teammates. I feel good. Every day, I want to give my all for my club.”

Lyon will host Paris FC at Groupama Stadium on Saturday, September 12, at 1:30 p.m. for the second matchday of the Arkema Première Ligue. It will be a big matchup in their first home game against last season’s playoff finalist.
