OL Lyonnes is delighted to announce the signing of Swedish international right winger Johanna Rytting Kaneryd from Chelsea FC for the next three seasons, through June 30, 2029.
Trained in Sweden, Johanna began her professional career with Tyresö FF, playing alongside Brazilian star Marta, and appeared in her first UWCL final at just 17 years old. She then joined Djurgårdens IF, where she played in 45 matches and scored 6 goals over two seasons (2016–2018) before winning the Swedish championship in 2019 with Rosengård and the Swedish Cup in 2021 with BK Häcken.
In 2022, Johanna left her home country to join the English club Chelsea, where she quickly established herself in the London squad. In her very first season, the Swedish player won the Women’s Super League and the FA Cup, then continued to improve, becoming her team’s top assist provider with 10 assists across all competitions during the 2023–2024 season. A versatile player capable of playing in both offensive and defensive roles, she has appeared in 139 matches for the Blues, scoring 17 goals and building an impressive list of achievements: three English league titles (2023, 2024, and 2025), two FA Cups (2023 and 2025), and two League Cups (2025 and 2026).
After progressing through all the youth ranks, Johanna was called up to Sweden’s national team in 2021. Since then, she has earned 70 caps and played a key role in her team’s run at the 2023 World Cup. She was also recognized for her individual performances, winning the 2024 Diamantbollen—awarded to the best Swedish female player of the year—and finishing 23rd in the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
The club is delighted with this new signing, which—following the arrivals of Maria Luisa Grohs and Caroline Weir, German and Scottish national team players, respectively—demonstrates the appeal of the OL Lyonnes project and reinforces its ambitions on the European stage.
